Six Vermont Artists (2009) was created for the Vermont Arts Council “Big Read Project.” The film hightlights six Vermont artists whose work explores social and political issues. The artists include: papermaker Drew Cameron; filmmakers Alan Dater and Lisa Merton; poet Major Jackson; performance artist Janice Perry; and founder of Bread & Puppet Theater, Peter Schumann.
Deb Ellis and Alexandra Halkin, Co-Producers/Directors (1997) SKIN DEEP: Norplant in Poor Communities is a 15-minute documentary that combines views of Norplant users, community health advocates, and experts in a social and political analysis of the use of this contraceptive technology.
(1986, 16mm, 22 min.) Intimate portrait of an older Vermont woman who lives alone on her farm with fifty horses. In 2017 the film was chosen to be archived by the Vermont Archive Movie Project (VAMP)
(1985, 3/4", 8:30 min.) Portrait of an elderly woman (my grandmother) who has little memory intact and little contact with the world around her. Combined with crawling titles that discuss a photo found in her belongings.
(1986, 16mm, 2:09 min.) A little experimental ditty created out of scraps of film I had around. The original double exposure footage was shot in a 16mm home movie camera picked up at a garage sale for $15.
(1986, 16mm, 2 min.) Portrait of three women (my aunt, grandmother, great aunt, and grandmother's cousin) finishing Thanksgiving dinner. When I moved to Wisconsin to go to college the Thanksgiving table was filled with nearly 20 people, mostly of my grandparents' generation. A few years later, this is who was left.
